Title Artifact Evaluation Practices in SE/PL vs. Systems Authors Stefan Winter E-Mail sw@stefan-winter.net Affiliation LMU Munich Abstract In the software engineering (SE) and programming languages (PL) communities, artifact evaluations have been conducted at top tier conferences for more than a decade and have by now become the norm for virtually all conferences. We have recently surveyed how these communities perceive the role of artifacts and artifact evaluations (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3951724) and conducted a large-scale study on published artifacts (https://doi.org/10.1145/3540250.3549172). As the systems community has also started conducting artifact evaluations, I would like to offer an overview of the results we have obtained. In addition, I would like to present initial results from an ongoing investigation of research reproducibility using published artifacts and discuss related collaboration opportunities.
